First Impressions: Warcross by Marie Lu

I recently read a sample of War cross by Marie Lu and have to say I was not disappointed! This book has been given a lot of hype recently and I was able to get my hands on the first few chapters recently and couldn't wait to tear through them! I mean a futuristic world where you have to play a virtual game of chance? I'm hooked! Also the mystery in this book! Marie Lu knows how to keep things interesting! I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on this book! If the first few chapter were any indication this book is not going to be one to miss! I hope you all get the chance to check it out!

Summary: For the millions who log in every day, Warcross isn’t just a game—it’s a way of life. The obsession started ten years ago and its fan base now spans the globe, some eager to escape from reality and others hoping to make a profit. Struggling to make ends meet, teenage hacker Emika Chen works as a bounty hunter, tracking down players who bet on the game illegally. But the bounty hunting world is a competitive one, and survival has not been easy. Needing to make some quick cash, Emika takes a risk and hacks into the opening game of the international Warcross Championships—only to accidentally glitch herself into the action and become an overnight sensation.

Convinced she’s going to be arrested, Emika is shocked when instead she gets a call from the game’s creator, the elusive young billionaire Hideo Tanaka, with an irresistible offer. He needs a spy on the inside of this year’s tournament in order to uncover a security problem . . . and he wants Emika for the job. With no time to lose, Emika’s whisked off to Tokyo and thrust into a world of fame and fortune that she’s only dreamed of. But soon her investigation uncovers a sinister plot, with major consequences for the entire Warcross empire.

Have you read Warcross yet? Are you dying to read it just like me? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Originally I wasn't so keen on Warcross, simply because it didn't sound like something I'd usually go for. But since I have heard so many positive things about it I think I will add it to the TBR! Marie Lu's Legend trilogy is one of my all time favourites, so I am obviously a fan of her writing style and her characters (DAY <3). I highly recommend that series if you haven't read it already! And I hope you like the full version of Warcross as much as the sampler :D
