Mini Reviews: Sweet Peril (Sweet #2) by Wendy Higgins and Onyx (Lux #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Recently I did two reviews on both Obsidian and Sweet Evil and naturally I fell in love with the characters from both novels (No seriously, I have been having an in head debate about which couple I like better!) Between Anna + Kaiden and Daemon + Katy I just cannot decide! They are both equally perfect and make my heart flutter erratically whenever something heart-burstingly romantic happens (which I must say happens quite a bit in these two books!
Anyways enough of my gushing and onto the reviews:

Sweet Peril (Sweet #2)
 By: Wendy Higgins

Rating: 3/5

Summary: Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.

Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.

When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?

Ahhhh... This book made me feel SO many things! In the end of the first book my heart was literally aching from the emotional stress that book caused me! This book was somehow worse, in different way (more heart melting!). First off the emotional tension between Kaiden and Anna was heart achingly tender yet extremely frustrating at the same time! I just wanted them to get over themselves and smooch each others faces off for crying out loud! Jealousy's and fear was running high for both of the two. Not to mention that darn Koponan getting in the way! (I was not very happy with him at times. Ok so more like the better half of this book)

I did feel like this book had a little more of a lull to it over the first one though. The action seemed to be lacking a tad at times and months would pass were not much significant happened. However I was happy with the action packed missions they did have. Plus there were times were Anna got to travel to some very cool and interesting places ( this is important because it helps fulfill my traveling fantasys. Plus every things just more intense and romantic in a foreign country, am I right?)

There was also the fact that things just got flat out sexy!

“I was more myself with you during those three days than I’ve ever been with anyone in my life. It’d be easier if I could be fake with you, but you bring out everything in me, little Ann. All of it.”

I mean how could you not swoon at this? Kaiden!!! What you do to our hearts!!! And I just have to take a moment to give it to Wendy Higgins for writing quite literally some of the best kissing scenes I have read in a really long time! They made you love the characters even more because you were able to connect with their vulnerabilities.

“He opened his eyes to reveal the storm within him.
“My every instinct is telling me to have my way with you.”
He was dead serious and my cheeks heated. Fire shone in his eyes and I broke eye contact, burying my face into his cotton-covered chest.
“But not nearly as difficult as going all this time without you,” he said.”

I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on the next book! I need more Anna and Kaiden! Seriously hope you guys check into this series if you haven't already. You will not regret it (especially if your like me and live for a good power couple romance to rout for)

Onyx (Lux #2)
By: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Rating: 5/5

Summary: Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

This book was flat out HILARIOUS! I seriously laughed out loud at times that left me on the verge of tears! Katy's thoughts are so darn hilarious because she just calls things as they are and doesn't put up with any of Daemons attitude. I love it! Also Daemon and Katy's banter together... perfection. Honestly the way these two characters joke around each other are what makes me fall in love with them even more.

“I’m going to get changed,” I said.
“Need help?”
“Wow. You’re so chivalrous, Daemon.”
His smile widened, flashing deep dimples. “Well, the experience
would be mutually beneficial. I promise.”

Plus this book was HOT. I mean if the covers any indication it is that kind of book. You know the kind that makes you blush uncontrollably at the most inconvenient times. But what can I say? This book is totally steamy! The romantic tension is off the charts between Katy and Daemon to a point where it literally becomes so frustrating that I just want to scream at them JUST SAY YOU LOVE EACH OTHER ALREADY! But of course they have to drag it out because they are both impossibly stubborn characters. (I mean there obsession with believing they can keep everybody safe without telling each other and putting them selves in serious danger, is an issue thats consistent in this book!)

“Jesus.” Blake rubbed his throat. “You have anger management problems. Its like a disease.”“There’s a cure and it’s called kicking your ass.”

There was also a really amazing plot line going on with this book. Its not often where I find a book whose sequel is equally interesting if not more so than the first book. I mean between all the alien business going on with the DOD and then theres the mysterious bond thing between Daemon and Katy that ends up with some crazy discoveries! Plus they introduce a new boy... his name is Blake and let me tell you, a jealous Daemon is a very very sexy Daemon!

“I can help Katy," Blake wheezed. "Good enough for you?"
"What?" I demanded, dropping my hands.
"Yeah, see, you saying her name alone makes me want to kill you. So, no, not good enough for me.”

This book has so much suspense and near death experiences that you will literally be on the edge of your seat the whole time. I seriously was glued to it for a sold three days straight. I was reading like crazy! I mean I just couldn't get enough of the constant emotions flying across the pages! Between all the bickering (which continues to be hilarious until the end) and the tender protective romantic moments I just couldn't get enough!

“Daemon pressed his forehead against mine. "Oh, I still want to strangle you. But I'm insane. You're crazy. Maybe that's why. We just make crazy together.”

Overall you guys need to read these two books they are amazing! I seriously still cannot decide between the two and its going to kill me! Maybe you guys could help me out by telling me who you like best because its an honest to god tie at this point!

Romance, Romance, and more Romance!

Warning I have a serious obsession with books that have a good fling going on. I'm talking fantasy-romace, action-romance, romance-romance... the list goes on. If their is some good romantic tension going on I'm hooked! So it comes as no surprise that todays post is all about my latest in Romance finds.

  The theme: Romantic Comedys

If I'm being completely honest here I haven't been reading a whole lot of romantic comedies. They just haven't been keeping my attention! I mean how hard is it to write a rom-com that has both good flirting and a little suspense to keep it readable? Luckily I was able to stumble across these rom-com's just the other day and once again there is hope for the future of adorable young love novels!

In Some Other Life
 By: Jessica Brody

Summary: Kennedy Rhodes turns down an acceptance to an elite private school, instead choosing to stay at her high school and jump at the opportunity to date the boy of her dreams. Three years later, Kennedy walks in on that same boyfriend cheating with her best friend—and wishes she had made a different choice. But when Kennedy hits her head and wakes up in the version of her life where she chose to attend the private school, she finds that maybe it’s not as perfect of a world as she once thought.

Ok when I first stumbled across this book I couldn't help but be drawn in by the totally adorable cover! I mean did you look at it? It's down right beautiful! (I mean anything with cute shoes on it is a no brainer for me though) So naturally I just had to know what it was about and can I just say I am genuinely excited to read this! The first few sentences in I thought it was just going to be another cliche high school drama but after I finding out she switches lives? This book sounds totally unique and not like anything I've read in a long time! I can't wait to give this book a try!

Just Friends
 By: Tiffany Pitcock

Summary: A new spin on the classic smart-girl-and-bad-boy setup, this witty contemporary romance shows how easily a friendship – even one built on an elaborate lie – can become so much more.

Jenny meets Chance for the very first time when she is assigned as his partner in their Junior Oral Communications class. But after they rescue a doomed assignment with one clever lie, the whole school is suddenly convinced that Little-Miss-Really-Likes-Having-A’s and the most scandalous heartbreaker in school have been best friends forever. It’s amazing how quickly a lie can grow―especially when you really, really want it to be the truth.

With Jenny, Chance can live the normal life he’s always kind of wanted. And with Chance, Jenny can have the exciting teen experiences that TV shows and movies have always promised. Through it all, they hold on to the fact that they are “just friends.” But that might be the biggest lie of all.

Debut author Tiffany Pitcock delivers a spot-on depiction of first love and the high school rumor mill in Just Friends, chosen by readers like you for Macmillan's young adult imprint Swoon Reads.

Ok does this book not sound totally swoon worthy? And can I just say, again with the amazing cover! This book sounds totally fun! A spin on the classic good girl and bad boy? I sadly cannot resist. Plus there's the whole spin off of having their relationship built off a lie, which sounds intriguing. I seriously want this book now! I miss good romance books that have simple plots but groundbreakingly sweet and epic love! Can not wait to get my hands on this book!

By Your Side
 By: Kasie West

Summary: When Autumn Collins finds herself accidentally locked in the library for an entire weekend, she doesn’t think things could get any worse. But that’s before she realizes that Dax Miller is locked in with her. Autumn doesn’t know much about Dax except that he’s trouble. Between the rumors about the fight he was in (and that brief stint in juvie that followed it) and his reputation as a loner, he’s not exactly the ideal person to be stuck with. Still, she just keeps reminding herself that it is only a matter of time before Jeff, her almost-boyfriend, realizes he left her in the library and comes to rescue her.

Only he doesn’t come. No one does.

Instead it becomes clear that Autumn is going to have to spend the next couple of days living off vending-machine food and making conversation with a boy who clearly wants nothing to do with her. Except there is more to Dax than meets the eye. As he and Autumn first grudgingly, and then not so grudgingly, open up to each other, Autumn is struck by their surprising connection. But can their feelings for each other survive once the weekend is over and Autumn’s old life, and old love interest, threaten to pull her from Dax’s side?

Who hasn't had that fantasy where they dream up that somehow (under very unlikely circumstances) you get stuck in a room with just you and your crush? I mean I definilty have day dreamed of me and the guy I liked opening up to each other because we accidentally bumped into each other at a party or got locked in a closet together (I know I read too much). This book at first didn't really grab me if I'm totally honest. I read the summary and thought it was middy intresting and then I forgot about it. Yet somehow I keep coming across it and then I couldn't stop thinking about how fun it would be to read something like this. I mean its my day dreams in book form! Plus I'm a total sucker for anything that has to do with a bad boy ... which leads me to writing about how much I really want to read this book! Its the epitome of Rom-Com (plus I'm hoping there will be some witty banter because we all need that in our lives)
Anyways I hope you check out this book and our as excited about it as I am!

Thank you all for stopping by my blog! I hope this inspired you to grab a few more Rom-Com's and get reading!

Book Review: Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins

Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins

Summary:  Embrace the Forbidden

What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences?

This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.
Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She's aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but it isn't until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He's the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.

Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?

Rating: 5/5 stars

I just need to say this book was HOT! Kaiden and Anna together! It was like they were melting each others clothes off with their eyes! I have to be honest I've been craving a good bad boy book and I must say this book did not disappoint. If your one to pass this book by just because of its cover, please don't, the writing is actually good and the story line is unquie enough that it was impossible for me to put this book down. I finished it in like a day and a half it was so addicting!

Ok lets talk about Anna. Anna is a normal teen for the most part except she has unusual gifts such as being able to read human and emotions and even feel them. She also have extremely sensitive senses and has an especially strong sense of smell and incredible vision. Anna thinks she's the only one with these talents and doesn't even tell her best friend Jaden about her gifts. She not even sure her adoptive mother Patti knows. That all changes when she meets Kaiden.

Kaiden knows things about Anna. He also happens to be the very attractive drummer in her best friends Jaden's favorite band. So its no surprise that the first time they meet its after his concert. The chemistry is definitely there from the start even though Anna isn't quite sure why Kaiden has such a strong interest in her. The two are then later forced to work together (I won't tell you why) oh and also Anna learns that she's not only part demon but part Angel, hence the crazy powers she has. Kaiden is also part demon, he's the son of the Duke of lust ( this explains why Kaiden has the ability to literally melt anyones heart with one touch!)

I mean I was totally hooked with these two from like chapter 3! Kaiden is just so mysterious and tortured (as a good bad boy should be!) its impossible not to be addicted to their banter and their forbidden kisses! I mean the book would literally go from talking about something totally boring and normal, to a total intense stare down between the two creating all this romantic tension! I mean I think I blushed at some of the parts in this book it was that intense!

Later on in the book you also meet the rest of the half demons (AKA Kaidens "friends") and one of them is yet another mysterious supposedly good looking dude named Koponan. Since I despise love triangles I spent most of the time he talked to Anna pretending he didn't exist, and silently praying he would not ruin everything between Kaiden and Anna. Let me tell you it gets intense between Kaiden and Anna and impossibly complicated which is yet another reason I was glued to this book for an actual day. (I refuse to give up hope! It is not over!)

This book had some serious character development  and I honestly found myself falling in love with all the characters towards the end (although I still have a bit of a love hate thing going on with Koponan but well see what happens there) The book really makes you feel everything Anna is going through when she's navigating her past and her battle with darkness. Kaiden's protectiveness of her is SO heart warming I seriously could not get enough! I abosuloutly, totally recommend this book to anyone that loves a little drama or paranormal action! Plus I mean you have to have a soft spot for bad boys this book is like the perfect candidate for best bad boy!

Overall I loved this book! I gave it 5 stars, which I don't do all the time, I usually give most books I love a 4 star rating and only give books I not only loved but they changed my perspective on the way books should be, 5 stars. This book defiantly raised the bar for what a frustratingly perfect book should be like! So please read it and hopefully you will love it as much as I did! (I am so looking forward to the sequel!!!)

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my blog! Please tell me your favorite bad boy books in the comment below! See you next time!

The Color Project
by: Sierra Abrams
Summary:
Bernice Aurora Wescott has one thing she doesn't want anyone to know: her name. That is, until Bee meets Levi, the local golden boy who runs a charity organization called The Color Project.

Levi is not at all shy about attempting to guess Bee’s real name; his persistence is one of the many reasons why Bee falls for him. But while Levi is everything she never knew she needed, giving up her name would feel like a stamp on forever. And that terrifies her.

When unexpected news of an illness in the family drains Bee's summer of everything bright, she is pushed to the breaking point. Losing herself in The Color Project—a world of weddings, funerals, cancer patients, and hopeful families that the charity funds—is no longer enough. Bee must hold up the weight of her family, but to do that, she needs Levi. She’ll have to give up her name and let him in completely or lose the best thing that’s ever happened to her.

For fans of Stephanie Perkins and Morgan Matson, THE COLOR PROJECT is a story about the three great loves of life—family, friendship, and romance—and the bonds that withstand tragedy.

When I first read the summary for this book I was literally SO excited!!! I mean who doesn't love a romance with mystery! I think Levi's persistence to guess Bee's real name is too CUTE! I cannot wait for this to come out! I need it now! ;)

Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

Okay, I actually own this book and recently started reading it and can I just say it is too cute!!! The writing is literally SO relatable I feel like I'm reading about myself! Lara Jeans relationships with her sister are to die for cute! I can't wait to see what will happen when the letters are sent out! Also Lara Jeans dreamy eyed, naive thoughts are so fun to read! Cant wait to finish this!

The Dazzling Heights (The Thousandth Floor #2)
by: Katharine McGee

Here in the Tower, no one is safe – because someone is watching their every move, someone with revenge in mind. After all, in a world of such dazzling heights, you’re always only one step away from a devastating fall….

Okay Im not going to lie, when I read the first book of this series The Thousandth Floor I was...
  TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH IT!
This series is flat out amazing! I absolutely love the idea of a futuristic New York! Especially how everyone lives in an incredible tower that has amazing new tech gear! The characters are also totally swoon worthy and you will find yourself rooting for your favorite couples in no time. I mean Rylin is my favorite and I won't give away who she's with (But can I just say him and her together... magic!) and I'm am so excited to figure out what happens to her next! Avery is also interesting, though she can come off as petty some times. Leda can be just flat out annoying but their is something about her that's intriguing and she defiantly brings the drama! You will definitely fall in love with the diverse characters I can tell you that!
Expect tons of drama, upscale technology and a thrill building world in not only The Thousandth Floor but hopefully The Dazzlingly Heights! (fingers crossed)

Thanks so much for reading my post! Let me know what your favorite reads are in the comments below! See you next time! :)

Book Review: Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Book Review: Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

August 16, 2017

Summary:
Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring… until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.And then he opened his mouth.Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something… unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me.You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don’t kill him first, that is.

This book was a definite 4 star review! To be honest the only reason I picked this book up was because I had noticed that it was getting some good buzz on Goodreads. I mean it came up on my recommend several times over the past few months but I was kind of in denial that it would be any good. I mean did you see the cover? It looks like the ultimate cheesy paranormal romance, blah blah blah garbage. But I decided to give it a chance. And can I just tell you this book made my heart race!!! Daemon and Katy's chemistry was off the charts!! And lets not forget their constant feisty banter! I absolutely LOVE character sass!
Also can we just take a moment to appreciate Daemons hotness!
When they first described him it was easy to see why his good looks would be considered other worldly!
"Heavy footsteps came from the other side, and then the door was swinging open and I was staring at a very broad, tan, well-muscled chest. A naked chest. My gaze dropped and my breath sort of... stalled. Jeans hung low on his hips, revealing a thin line of dark hair that formed below his navel and disappeared under the band of the jeans"
I mean can you say HOT! It was easy to see why Katy might be at a loss for words! But its also understandable why she considers Daemon to be a total jerk! I mean the sass is real in this book!
"One side of his lips curled up. 'Anytime is a bad time for you to come knocking on my door, kid'
'Im not a kid. I'm seventeen.'
'Is that so?' He blinked 'You look like your twelve. No. Maybe thirteen, but my sister has this doll that kinda reminds me of you. All big-eyed and vacant"
Daemon can be totally kill worthy one moment and then all the sudden you turn around and he's like smoldering hot again! He drove me insane! The tension they would build up was so FRUSTRATING! But then they made up for it with so moments in the end sooooo,
Anyways between daemon and his twin sister Dee's secret alien powers and an evil alien called the Arem coming after them there was definitely not a shortage of action within this book. Plus Dee and Katy's friendship is totally cute! Katy would do anything to protect Dee (I mean maybe not as much as Daemon who is crazy protective of his sis) but still her loyalty is admirable.
Of course Daemon literally tried everything to prevent Dee and Katy from becoming friends in the beginning. Going as far as telling Katy that she was not welcome nor wanted.
"I threw my hands up, frustrated. 'Thats works perfectly for me, buddy, because I don't want to get to know you either'
'Daemon' Dee said, grabbing his arm. 'Knock it off.'
He smirked as he watched me. 'I don't like that you're friends with my sister"
With loads of romance and action this book was the perfect mix. I literally read it in like three days! You seriously will not be able to put it down I mean it! This book totally blew me away and passed all my expectations.
I love how they didn't imediently fall for one another and become totally heart eyed romantics! I feel like that always happens and I'm like wait? You two just met like two seconds ago. Like what? But this book actually makes it feel more realistic by spacing out the months between the two and also contiueing the hatred between Daemon and Katy. Let me tell you they continue the sass until the end!
A total must read! Please, please give this book a try and you will not be disappointed!
